max is a player. It does not include channels, playlists or a subscription.

Every screen

Designed for the way you hold it.

Apple TV

A 10-foot interface driven entirely by the Siri Remote. The focused item is always obvious from the sofa, and the menu floats over the picture instead of standing above it.

  • Multiview: watch up to four live channels at once and choose which one you hear
  • A live player with channel switching, the guide and catch-up a press away
  • Your favorite channels on the Home Screen’s Top Shelf
Features

Everything a playlist can do, laid out like television.

TV guide with catch-up

A full programme grid for every channel, with up to seven days of catch-up when your provider supports it.

A library, not a list

Films and shows get posters, cast and Continue watching, matched to the titles in your own source.

Multiview

Watch up to four live channels side by side on Apple TV and iPad, and choose which one you hear.

Favorites

Hold any channel, film or show to save it. Favorite a whole group and the channels added to it later join on their own.

Subtitles and audio

Switch audio tracks and subtitles during playback, fetch missing subtitles from OpenSubtitles and adjust their timing.

Watch tracking

Connect Trakt or Simkl and what you finish in max is marked as watched there too.

Downloads

Save films and episodes to iPad and iPhone for flights and commutes, on Wi-Fi only unless you choose otherwise.

Radio

Audio-only streams play as radio, with the station’s name and, when the guide has it, the programme on air.

Several sources

Keep each provider separate, or merge them into one library when you want everything in one place.

Sources

Bring what you already have.

Add as many sources as you like. Each one keeps its own channels, guide and favorites, and your sources follow you to your other Apple devices through iCloud.

Questions

Before you install

More answers and setup guides for each device are on the support page.

No. max is a player. You add a source from your own provider or your own server, and max plays it. max does not sell, host or recommend content.

M3U and M3U Plus playlist URLs, Xtream Codes logins, and Plex, Jellyfin, Emby and Silo servers. You can add as many sources as you need.

Yes, by default. Each source keeps its own channels, guide and favorites. If you prefer one combined library, turn on Merge sources in Settings.

From your provider. Xtream Codes servers send guide data automatically. For an M3U playlist, enter the guide (XMLTV) URL your provider gave you when you add the source.

If your provider supports catch-up, the guide reaches back up to seven days. Choose a past programme to play it from the start. The days before you added the source stay empty, because max builds that history as it goes.

Apple TV, iPad and iPhone, each designed for its screen: the Siri Remote on Apple TV and touch on iPad and iPhone. Macs with Apple silicon run the iPad version.

Yes. Your sources, favorites and where you stopped each film and episode sync through your iCloud account, so a source added on iPhone is waiting on Apple TV.

On iPad and iPhone you can download films and episodes when your source allows it. Live channels need a connection.

Free to try on Apple TV, iPad and iPhone while it is in beta.

Opens TestFlight, Apple’s app for beta testing. You need a playlist, an Xtream Codes login, or a Plex, Jellyfin, Emby or Silo server of your own.
